Peraya Homestay & Jungle Rafting (3D2N)

Updated: Feb 29

3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS

Kampung Peraya is a Bidayuh village in the Padawan Range, roughly an hour's drive from Kuching. The people of Kampung Peraya have been operating their homestays and river rafting adventures since 2006 and are committed to 100% sustainable tourism.

DAY 1

Kuching - Semenggoh Wildlife Centre - Peraya Village - Jungle Camp - Night Rafting: Pick up from the hotel at 8:00am and proceed to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre to observe the semi-wild orangutans during feeding time (9:00am - 10:00am). Over 20 rehabilitated and locally-born orangutans roam this forest reserve, and many still return for extra feeding at the stations. Continue past paddy fields, pepper gardens, and rugged mountain scenery to Peraya Village for a traditional lunch with your host family. After lunch, spend the afternoon trekking through the rainforest, enjoying the jungle sights and sounds, and foraging for dinner ingredients along the way. By late afternoon, you will scout for a suitable campsite and set up your camp by the river bank. After a fabulous dinner of fresh, natural ingredients and jungle produce, embark on a night-rafting safari to experience the sights and sounds of the rainforest after dark. On returning to your camp, your guides will tell tales of their legends, traditions, and taboos over a few glasses of tuak (rice wine). Overnight in the jungle camp, falling asleep to the natural music of the rainforest.

Lunch and dinner are provided.

DAY 2

Jungle Rafting - Peraya Homestay: After breakfast, experience the Borneo Rainforest from a fresh perspective in a bamboo raft or traditional kayak, paddling through class I and II water. Your guide will instruct you on river navigation and safety procedures, making you feel at home on the crystal clear river. You may choose to split your group into adventurous kayakers and scenic rafters to create optimum enjoyment for each individual. Between rapids, your guides will share the river's secrets — local history, fish spawning habits, how the community uses native plants-and introduce you to Sarawak's invigorating outdoors. The lush rainforest abounds with delicious wild plants and ferns. Help your local guides harvest vegetables and transform them into spectacular delicacies via the ancient tribal art of cooking in bamboo. After your riverside lunch, raft downstream to the pick-up point and transfer back to Peraya Homestay for dinner and more fascinating experiences of Bidayuh culture. Overnight at Peraya Homestay.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided.

DAY 3

Jungle Trekking - Kuching: After breakfast, spend the morning jungle trekking, visiting the ancient skull house en route. After a refreshing swim at a remote jungle waterfall, head back to Peraya Homestay for lunch and head back to Kuching mid-afternoon.

Breakfast and lunch are provided.
